An Axial-Flux Dual-Rotor Slotless Permanent Magnet Motor with Novel Equidirectional Toroidal Winding

In this paper, a dual-rotor slotless axial-flux permanent magnet (AFPM) motor with equidirectional toroidal winding (ED-TW) is proposed and compared the AFPM traditional (T-TW) same dimensions, number of coils poles. Different from T-TW, only positive sides ED-TW are left on one side stator core, return all removed to other core. Firstly, structure operation principle two motors introduced analyzed. To clarify features ED-TW, synthetic electromotive force (EMF) vector armature reaction field T-TW studied. Secondly, main size equations windings presented. Subsequently, electromagnetic characteristics analyzed based three-dimensional finite element method (3D-FEM). The comparison results indicate that has superiority in torque density efficiency. Finally, prototype manufactured tested, which validates feasibility correctness analysis 3D-FEM.
